With the popular request from all participants, United Nations Environment Programme Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (UNEP ROAP) would like to extend the Proficiency Testing Programs to all Public Laboratories.
As part of the initiative of Project for Promoting Minamata Convention on Mercury, UNEP has organized an annual webinar for participants on 21st & 26th October 2021 to disseminate the information developed by a Japan-funded project on mercury.
Webinar topics included a virtual survey for mercury analytical laboratories, comprehensive training in mercury inventory including UNEP toolkit, and laboratory proficiency testing on mercury analysis have great reception by most participants.
Hence, UNEP would like to extend the opportunity of the abovementioned Proficiency Testing to all Public Laboratories, including regions beyond Asia and The Pacific.
Objective
The objective of this program aims at evaluating the performance of mercury analyses conducted by the laboratories. It provides their proficiency levels and collective mercury monitoring capacity in the region.

National Institute for Minamata Disease (NIMD) is responsible for overall PT design and compiles and prepares the report. UNEP ROAP supervises project implementation. Asian Institute of Technology Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (AIT RRC.AP) organizes laboratory engagement and sample distribution.
